Project: Strategic TNFD corporate advice Client: Confidential global manufacturing/ extractives company

Location: EU and Global

Objective: To provide insights and advice to inform the senior leadership team as to what the Taskforce for Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) is, its implications for the business and its strategy, and what steps the company should adopt to implement it.

Our role: Sustain Value developed a set of guidance materials on the TNFD. This included an overview of the need for, provenance, aim, status, scope and methodology of the TNFD; a high-level review of potentially material nature-related impacts, dependencies, risks and opportunities for the business across its value chain; and advice on strategic implications, including recommended actions and resources to implement the TNFD. We also reviewed how the TNFD aligns with the rapidly evolving broader sustainability reporting and disclosure landscape, highlighting links to key frameworks such as the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), the EU Taxonomy and Science-Based Targets Network. The study was in part informed by interviews with key members of staff within the organisation.

Outcome: We produced, in a highly cost-effective way, a concise, informative PowerPoint report for the senior business leadership team. The output has been used to inform how best the company prepares for, and resources, its adoption of the TNFD.
