Project: Multi-capitals impact decision-support framework

Client: Confidential UK Technology Organisation/Capitals Coalition

Working together with the Capitals Coalition, Sustain Value developed a Multi-capitals decision-support framework for a major technology related R&D organisation. The project involved a detailed review of leading international capitals and sustainability related reporting and assessment frameworks to identify the most relevant set of capital assets the organisation should consider in their decision-making and funding applications. The final framework comprised around 30 clearly defined forms of capital assets spread across natural, social, human and produced (financial, intellectual and manufactured) capitals. The assets defined are those that the organisation potentially impacts positively or negatively (both directly and/or indirectly) through undertaking their projects. The study also involved reviewing the organisation’s existing impact framework and the range of projects they undertake, as well as holding workshops to brainstorm and discuss the scope and outcomes.
